flosy
A downloadable game for Windows
Developed by Esteban.L, Game Design & Development first-year student at Creative Seeds, Brittany, France.
THE GAME
Flosy is a strategy game in which you must use various tools to restore life to the tiles in the environments. With each stage, you become more powerful, but the challenges also increase, with more enemies and a larger area to repair-all within a limited time.
All of these actions are aimed at becoming more powerful so that you can bring back your god, who has vanished into the darkness.
FEATURES

- Restore nature using the various tools at your disposal.
- Defeat enemies before they overwhelm you.
- Expand your territory and push back the darkness.
- Upgrade your equipment using your skill points.
- Create troops to help you on your quest.
ART
Fight the darkness in an isometric pixel-art universe, where the colors of darkness contrast with those of nature.
THE PROJECT
This game is a 10-week end-of-year Godot 2D project made during the first year of the Game Design & Development programme at Creative Seeds.
For this project, I chose the theme of “instability”: I incorporated this theme into the story through a world ravaged by destruction, and in the gameplay, instability is present in the terrain-which changes as we progress and as enemies interact with it.
I decided to make the game using an isometric tilemap because I felt that this approach would allow for better interaction with the environment and, as a result, a better understanding of it
and I decided to apply this to pixel art, since I had already experimented with it and wanted to further develop my pixel art skills.
While working on this project, I encountered several technical challenges, such as:
- Creating the map presented me with performance issues because I wanted a map that was very large-or even infinite. To solve this problem, I took inspiration from Minecraft and implemented a chunk system.
- The map progression didn't allow for a gradual increase in difficulty. At the beginning, when the player completed a stage, the map would expand while retaining the sections the player had already completed in the middle, which caused progression issues—either the pace was too fast or it felt odd because the player then only had to manage the sides. so I decided to clear the player’s progress on the map after each stage, compensating with a reward.
